Designer Shaunte Wadley made something amazing, and we couldn't help but share her genius idea here on the blog. Using the Tag It Kit and Clip It Kit, she made jewelry holders to give out as gifts. As you'll see below, she made holders for a pair of earrings, a necklace, and a ring. Wouldn't you love to get a piece of jewelry with a presentation like this?

Take a look at the front. Cutting out two hearts makes for a great space to put a pair of earrings.

First school day....

This is a very busy time of year for Reinecke...he just celebrated his birthday and now it is off to school!

Reinecke was really excited about going to "big school"... and he is enjoying it sooooooooo much!

And this is his proud dad...

We hope that your first year of school will be a happy one...!!

And that this is only the beginning of many happy school years...

And this is Reinecke's big sister, Liani...

who has to go to school in a blazer...in 30+ degrees celsius......

I had a super 2 days making friends, chatting to "old" customers and friends and selling, selling, selling Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts dies at the Christmas in the Home Expo. What a wonderful atmosphere and what splendid people!

Reinecke...growing up so fast...!

These pics were taken at the beginning of the year.... Reinecke had a "little" party in Cape Town, Bettiesbay, with Oupa and Ouma. And we also had a celebration for him once the school started....it makes them feel really important! {smile} And here he still has all his "baby" teeth....
Here he is blowing his 6 candles! So grown up now....!!

And this is Reinecke NOW with his "haasbek"... all the teeth out and new ones growing in their place...he is growing up JUST too fast! Cannot believe that he is going to school next year...

LOL! or do we have a vampire in the making...????....watch out Edward....!

Let's Scrap Month Long Sketch

This is the month long sketch for September from Let's Scrap:

...and this is my take on the sketch:

I have been very happily using all the Let's Scrap September sketches to scrap our Richtersveld 4x4 and camping holiday! It just makes life so much easier...not having to design everything from scratch...!

I had to move around elements on this sketch to suite my scrapping style. I just cannot place photo clusters so far apart, therefor I brought everything together in the middle, still using the same photo "sizes" and "placement". Now it feels like a "unit". Then I filled the gaps with embellishments and some die-cut elements.

I am sure you will still be able to see the "sketch" in my layout....?

I love how versatile die-cuts are...there is always just the right little something to fill the gaps on a layout! Look at the awesome little birds that I cut out with my silhouette....

Again it is a very simplistic layout with very little embellishment, but showing off the photos nicely!

Let's Scrap Sketch

Herewith another sketch from Let's Scrap...

And this is my take on this sketch:

A very simplistic layout - where the photos take up all the space! And the focus is on the photos!
I have used very old papers from my stash...but these have always been a favourite of mine...!Just shows you ... do not throw away those old papers...they might come in handy!
I have used only 1 or 2 die-cuts as embellishments...and they work very well with this sketch.

We have taken these pics in the Richtersveld...it is a rock between here and nowhere with a huge "hand print" on it....and called HAND OF GOD. I love these pictures!

I will have to add a little journaling somewhere on this page...will work on it...

I-Scrap Birthday Celebration

This is the gorgeous bunch of ladies that attended the I-Scrap Birthday Celebration Event at Evergreen in Port Elizabeth on the week-end...

It was a stunning event with lovely projects by local teachers...myself, Ray, Jenny and Kim.

Together with Jenny from I-scrap we designed layouts and projects and Jenny had everything packed and ready for the week-end...with off course, very nice lucky draw prizes and goodie bags!

The second projects is a recipe book and the technique in covering and putting together this album will be used over and over again in all the other little albums you will make after completing this project!
In your kit you will also receive various templates for adding recipes to your recipe book.
There are no set places for photos, but you can add photos anywhere in your recipe book or to specific recipes to acknowledge where the recipe came from.....

This recipe book is a fun project, but does require time to put together...which of course the retreat offers!

The third project is just gorgeous and will require you to bring along all your Tim Holtz, Jenny Bowlin, Teresa Collins and other favourite "stash"! You will have examples to work from or you can just create your own beautiful and very special project!

More Project 12 goodness...!

Being a good girl, while I am still very sick with bronchitis, I have actually finished 2 more layouts for Project 12...very happy that I get some scrapping done!

Today I will also show you the sketches as provided by Becky Fleck from Pagemaps - I love the ease of finishing these pages....events that you REALLY would like to scrap, but between making up pages for teaching and making up kits for stores, I can barely find time for my own scrapping! Here you do not have to think about the design....you just have to find the right paper and embellishment and use the sketch to resize photos.....as easy as that. And around 3hrs later you have a completed page! And you can use this one sketch more that once, off course! With different paper and photos, as off course, different embellishments, it WILL be completely different once done!

For the first layout I used the Project 12 April Sketch:

While I'm on a roll with blogging, I am also going to show you my PROJECT 12 layouts that I have finished....I will hopefully soon have the others ready to showcase here...

We are in the fourth month and I have done 2 of the layouts....January's sketch and March's sketch....here are my interpretations:

For Reinecke's birthday page I have used mostly Basic Grey papers and embellishments...I just love this Basics range from Basic Grey!
I also used my Silhouette die-cut machine to cut out the title "ENJOY" and the word "six"...such a pleasure to use this machine...!

For this layout I used:
Papers by K&Company,
a border punch by Martha Stewart,
ribbon by Heidi Swapp,
die-cuts using QuicKutz dies,
stamp by Kaisercraft.

I love to mix and match the elements that I have available in my scraproom...there is just sometimes too much to choose from...LOL!

I already know what I am going to do with the other 2 sketches...now I just have to sit down and do it! I think I think too much about these things....LOL!

Scrapbooking convention at Spier, Stellenbosch

Wow! I love scrapbooking conventions...all the fun, all the lovely ladies and off course, all the nice scrapbooking stuff!
This year with Tim Holtz and Margie was again a most enjoyable event! We laughed, ate, scrapped and had lots of fun...

All these photos were taken by Cariena, who sat right next to me....how lucky can I be...the very first convention that I got the photos! THANK YOU, CARIENA!

This is my single page creation with the Girls Paperie Papers in Margie's class...I very much did my own thing here...but the basics are still the same...! I love those banners and off course the new paper range that we used in class!

And this is me with my lucky draw prize...gorgeous sizzix die with Tim's new butterflies! This was my lucky day...!

More about the ski holiday...

Apart from building a snowman & risking my life on ski's... we also had a stunning day outing in Salzburg...a little trip by bus and then by train...and we were there!

Just a few shots I took in and around Salzburg....there are just 2 many to show you all of them!
We only had this one day {or part thereof, after traveling time..} and we just walked and walked to cover as much of Salzburg as we could....

And then just a few photos of Obertauern and surroundings:
This is the road we walked every single morning....with ski-boots on our feet and ski's over our shoulders...

....and this is the first slopes just next to where we stay....the slopes ending right there in town....on your doorstep!

And these are the 2 roads most used by us....the one leading to the pubs and slopes....and the other going to the supermarket..!

We also went up on this gondola....and the view from there is just awesome....more snow capped peaks than I have ever seen in my whole life!!!! Snow all around...as far as the eye can see...

The nice thing is that the use of all the chair lifts and these gondolas were included in our ski pass that we bought for the time that we were there...

The snow is just soooooo magical... we are just sooooooo not used to seeing it! Although we had temperatures of between -5 and around 7 degrees celcius, it was not at all that cold....much easier to get used to that what I thought it would be!

It's been a while...

...a 2 week ski-holiday in Austria, school holidays in SA...and a scrapbooking convention in Cape Town... and I have sooooooo fallen behind in my blogging...and life in general...! I just have to state that I am not complaining...LOL!

First I will touch on our ski-holiday in Austria...in Obertauern to be specific - and it was just MAGICAL!
We have been putting off this invitation for a few years now, but now we tick it off our list as BEEN THERE, DONE IT!
I cannot say that I was born to ski...but it didn't stop me from trying...and trying and trying....!LOL!
After 2 weeks I was surprised to see how much we have learnt and what we were able to do...! And I honestly will go back again...think that is enough said for those that though that this would not be my-kind-of-holiday....?

We had a 2 day stop over in Dublin...and yes, it rained both days!
We visited a few sites....

And then off to Dublin to visit....Jameson...

....and Guiness! {...the real tourist things...!}

And then off to Obertauern in Austria:

This is where we stayed...self catering accomodation....exactly what we needed!

First we got our "kits" and then training started!

Then it starting snowing....REAL SNOW...falling from the sky! It looked like a winter wonderland....!

Yay! We built a snowman.....!!

....it is hard work building a snowman...but great fun to get to the spot where you want to build the snowman!

Now I am off to bed......blogging to be continued!

Valentines cards

Roses are red, violets are blue....and I so love these little flowers, too...LOL!

I had a ball playing with some Kaisercraft papers....and I am soooooooo not a Valentine's girl....!! But I came up with a few {I think} very nice cards....you can decide...?
And since I started using my Silhouette more, I am just so much more in love with it! As you can see I have used a few "die-cuts" from the Silhouette and there are absolutely thousands to choose from on the Silhouette site....just love the freedom and variety!

before I continue with photos and news from the holidays I have to share these birthday cards that I made for my daughter for her upcoming birthday.....it is a fairy party!

I've cut the fairy with the Silhouette and then chalked the fairy with real old "powder" chalks...had to dig around in my scraproom for those....!LOL! The little charms are also cut with the silhouette and I used thread to attach them onto the ribbon.
I am very happy with these .... hope they inspire you to make more cards!

I just cannot believe that it is the end of January! {and my Christmas tree is still not packed away...........if this is any indication of my life right now, then 2011 is going to be hectic...??!!!!!} So many plans and so many things to do....!

Little bit about the holiday....now long forgotten!
We were off to Cape Town for a few days stopping over in Barrydale at the Warmwaterbergspa. The children sooooo enjoyed the warm swimming pools....even though it was summer!

Then off to Cape Town....oh yes....a picture of the new car......I LOVE MY CAR! In Barrydale I had to drive on a dirt road...was so not impressed!

Now off to bed...will continue with little bits about the holiday over the next few days and then I will have a few sneak peeks of the new kits for February!

It's Christmas time...

I sat staring at the papers for hours......started with one or 2 and then made the mistake to check out Tim Holtz's blog for inspiration.........I was nearly in tears when I saw all his gorgeous Christmas tags....but {LOL!} we cannot all be that talented!???? And, off course, I am soooooo not a "messy" scrapper.....{smile}!

A little update...

I had such a ruff time...planned to re-do an eenie weenie bathroom in the flatlet attached to our house ... and ended up redoing the whole bathroom, bedroom and lounge due to bad builder craftsmanship......35 yrs ago....Why did the floors gave in on me??????? Well, that seems to be the story of the house we bought when we moved to PE......{sigh!}
So again I had builders in and around my house for more than a month and at this stage we are just waiting for the finishing touches in the bathroom....!
Then we decided that it was about time to replace the also very old and rotten sliding door in the passage....and then decided to take out all the wooden frames in that area while we were busy....now this was more dust than I could handle at one given time!!!!!!!!!! LOL! But now it is all done....and I am not planning any more building and restoration...well, at least not for 2010!

In the "background" I was working on a mini album for a fund raising for the church....and I was soooooo happy with the end result {without photos}....

We used the absolutely gorgeous My Minds Eye LUSH Collections....in pink, red, brown, black, green and blue. Because of the style of the album and papers and pretty flocked letters, I decided to keep it simple. And it was also easier to teach simplistic pages to a class which consisted of complete beginners to more experienced scrappers...
I love what everybody did with their albums and was lucky enough to see one or 2 of the finished albums a few days after the class! Well done, girls!

I have been a busy girl this last week working on kits, projects & layouts for classes. I used some stunning October Afternoon papers for the sketch challenge on Get Picky's blog and used the same paper for a double page layout for a class. I had all the bits and pieces left on the table and I then decided to use them for making a card....and love how it worked out.... All I need to do is add wording once I know what I am going to use it for.

Kaisercraft - Once upon a time...

I have taken these photos earlier this year...around March or April...and loved the bright colours... I found these Kaisercraft papers in my stash and just knew that they would be perfect for these photos!
I also played around with my Silhouette....still getting to know what this machine can do for me....LOL!

On the big orange paper I printed a part of the story of Cinderella in a faded colour. Love how the writing is just visible... The title and the pumpkin was all cut out with the Silhouette. I love the layered effect of the title - so neatly cut! And to cut out the purple frame & the large scallops I used my QuicKutz Revolution.

And {off course} some bling just finished it off soooooo nicely!

Project 12

I have just completed the APRIL Project 12 Sketch....{blush}...at least nobody is checking...LOL!

It was a new years resolution to make more cards this year....it is now Aug and I finally got around to making some....so much for new year's resolutions...LOL!

I attended a class...!

It was sooooo nice to have Jowilna in Jeffreysbay at the Scrapbook Studio & also in PE {at Scrapaholics} teaching a few classes..and I attended at least ONE "messy" class. I must confess.......I do not like to get my fingers dirty.....and this class was all about getting your fingers dirty.... I am still checking for stains...LOL!
When I get shown these things I just love doing it, but it will take some getting used to to do this on my own...
I have completed this page up to the point where I have to find pictures that will work nicely with this page....and I love the end result! Thank you Jowilna!

Jowilna's page was in pinks and purples....but as I am a blue and brown scrapper, I changed the colours to suite my taste....

Another page that I have completed from a class by Jowilna in PE...this class also had its challenges with regards to "messiness"...LOL!
We used different inking and stamping techniques, Utee {melting pot}, perfect pearls and alcohol inks. I love how this page came together with photos of my daughter....

Confession time...again...I am a scrapoholic....and I love stash...{blush}...to the point that I am sure I need therapy! But I think {hope} a lot of scrapper out there know the feeling.... A little while ago Crafty Steals had a stunning "steal" for the day....20 MME Rub-ons at such a ridiculous price that I just couldn't help myself... and seeing that journaling is always the very last thing I do...and I am always trying to avoid that part, I found this gorgeous rub-on quote in my brand new stash of MME rub-ons! Now that really makes it worthwhile....LOL....and it filled up the journaling space so nicely... What a bargain!

And another little detail shot from this page...and oooooohhhh...I LOVE bling!

On the topic of addictions....Twopeasinabucket.com had {or maybe it is still on} a HUGE sale on their QuicKutz dies. I have never found QuicKutz dies anywhere at this price.....Needless to say that I bought a few {maybe more than a few...} dies for my stash....it makes me sooooooooo happy...{smile}!!

More birthday butterfly pages for you....

Today I am showing you the last of the Birthday Album layouts....

When scrapping an event I like to use similar elements throughout the pages...and you will see that I have used printed papers and embellishments from one particular range. I have used the same die-cuts on a few of the pages. I have also used the Autumn Leaves "ticket" stamps on more than one page...it just brings the album pages together... These layouts are all simplistic, because the photos are busy and I like to keep the focus on the photos and not on all the pretty papers and embellishments...

Birthday Album

I took a bit of a breather...had a nasty little incident with an attempted break-in in the middle of the night.... I can only thank God for giving us the strength to work through these things and for protecting us.

But I am now ready to blog a few pages from a Birthday Album that I have just completed for a friend.

The theme of the party was Butterflies. I just loved playing around with papers and embellishments to enhance the photos and the theme. I have done some single pages and some double page layouts. I had a bunch of 4x6 photos to work with....

Products used: Making Memories Flutter Collection and {off course} some QuicKutz die-cuts. The journaling block is a new die-cut and I just love how easy it is to make it all match up so nicely! The butterfly stamp on the single page is a Kaisercraft clear rubber stamp...so nice! On the 3rd page I have used lots of bling {another favourite product} and for the first time I have used a QuicKutz 12inch embossing folder to emboss the gorgeous scalloped edge where I placed the bling....{not sure if you will be able to see this on the photo...?}

I must confess that layouts always looks nicer in real life than what they look like on photos...but hope they will still inspire you!

I have also been working on kits and will soon give more detail on where and how to purchase those....

We head out from Port Elizabeth at around 13h30 and had to clear a lot of ground to reach Montagu for our first night sleep!

Our first stop...for diesel...! One of many diesel-stops...Kareedouw.

We arrived in Montagu at around 22h00.

June 12, 2010

Last night we swopped our camping site for a hut....thanks heavens...it was FREEZING!

We stayed over at Doringlaagte in Montagu - never knew that Montagu was this cold in June!
We had this stunning view of Montagu when we left Doringlaagte early in the morning{....around 8h00}.

For lunch we stopped at the Clanwilliam Dam ...

...and safely arrived around 18h00 at our destination for the evening....Port Nolloth..where a stunning sunset greeted us!

June 13, 2010
We woke up in Port Nolloth...this was our last night in civil surroundings...and had a stunning breakfast at Port Indigo.

Now for the last stretch of tar road....
We made a quick stop at Alexanderbaai to see the Orange River Mouth....

On this picture you can see where the river runs into the sea...

Oops.....we got stuck....!!

But "let out some air"....and got out of this one without much effort....!

Leaving Alexanderbay behind we are really on our way...only dirt roads from here...!

We arrived at Sendelingsdrift where we filled up the water tanks and also filled up with diesel..a very slow process...Africa time......

On this picture the new Sanparks reception building - very nice...in and out...

From here we are on our own...and on our way to Potjiespram.

We arrived at Potjiespram and set up camp immediately before night falls ...

We had ablution blocks with cold running water {not for drinking} and flush toilets at Potjiespram - very neat facilities.

Heading out for De Hoop...it is just so beautiful ...

Our first stop was to admire the "halfmens" and we took some pictures of the children with these plants...

Our second stop was at the "HAND OF GOD" where we took a few pictures...

...and now for the much anticipated Akkedis Pass.....

...must be honest...with the loaded 4x4 trailer and what we heard from others, we were pleasantly surprised with the ease that we completed the Akkedis Pass....there were one or 2 scary ups and downs..but all and all a good experience!!

The weather was a bit funny...and we had a few drops of rain...so we had to work fast to set up camp....didn't know what to expect??

Shortly after we set up camp, we had very bad windy conditions and our whole "canopy" got blown off...we had to take it down. The soil is so sandy and the canopy is very big and heavy...the tent pegs were pulled right out of the ground...! We were not very happy campers at this stage....!
We could not even "braai" as it was raining, too.....

Our day started out with less wind and we put the canopy back up....we used all our resources to keep the pegs in the ground and the canopy up! At least we did not have more gusty wind....and the weather was actually very nice!

We climbed up the hill behind our tents and this is the view from up there...to the right and to the left and the back of the hill:

The views towards the river is so green and there is so much water ... and behind the little hill there is only a barren landscape...
We had a very nice, relaxing day...starting to rest and unwind!

Today is just soooooo beautiful....a few more pictures of the surrounding area:

...and yes, I think the big one got away! LOL! But Reinecke caught his first fish...such an achievement for such a little guy!

The men decided to go on an outing to see the surrounding area and try their vehicles' ability to drive through lots and lots of sand.....

...and they were very happy with what they experienced on those sandy roads....and they didn't get stuck!

We spotted this black and white kingfisher regularly scanning the river for food...hovering and diving...

...and this, I think, is a "byevanger".....

Our last day in the Richtersveld....and too soon to pack up! Next time we will stay longer!

Driving in the Richtersveld is the good part.....now we have another 1700km left to get home....!
We slept over at Port Nolloth and the next day arrived home safely at around 21h00.

Kaisercraft - Tea at Elsie Collection

I cannot believe that it has been a year that I have been a DT member for Kaisercraft...time has really flown...and now we are waiting to see who the new team will be...

I must confess that this range has been a HUGE challenge to scrap...it just did not want to happen...I think you all know that feeling....??? But I love the page that eventually "happened"..LOL!

I am still a QuicKutz junkie and used a 12inch die to cut out the film strips. They are so gorgeous! I finished off the page with very little embellishments....a wooden flower and a few buttons...a simplistic page - the way I like them!
I cannot help to mention the swirly border...I have AGAIN used my Martha Stewart punch for this....told you that you would see this on more than one layout.....LOL!

Kaisercraft layouts and ideas

I have been away on holiday so much over the last month {...don't get me wrong, I am not complaining...} that I have completely lost track with my blog...I will update you later on my Maldives and Richtersveld trips.....I am still trying to loose the dust from the Richtersveld...LOL! This is such an old technique, but works so well to add detail and fun to a card!

I used some of these organza ribbons to make this card....

Yesterday on the Kaisercraft blog....this page made with the new range: UTOPIA. It is a stunning range for scrapping girly pages.
I have made this a really clean and simple design with the focus on the photo.

Products used; Kaisercraft Utopia papers. Kaisercraft inks, pearls and bling.

For the details at the bottom I have used my new punch from Martha Stewart to make the loopy design. I punched holes with the Making Memories ribbon slot punch and threaded the ribbon through. To finish it off nicely, I added rhinestone....

Today on the Kaisercraft Blog you will see these cards made with the Kaisercraft Devonshire collection.

Products used: Devonshire Collection clear stamps, paper, embellishment pack & die-cut elements. Kaisercraft rhinestones, pearls & small alphas.

You can make lots of pretty cards in no time using off cuts. I used my favourite technique, fake stitching, around the edges of the cards. And a few scattered rhinestones always adds a nice touch...

I have bought 2 Martha Stewart edge punches that I used on these cards...they are just sooooooo beautiful! I am sure you will see more of these punches on my new layouts...will most possibly use them until we are all ready to throw them away..LOL!

Kaisercraft: Gypsy Sisters

The Gypsy Sisters Collection from Kaisercraft is a mix of pinks, maroons and teals.....I picked out the teals to work with my photos....It is a really simplistic layout - with the focus on the photos.
This layout was inspired by Donna Downey's book: a photo-first approach to designing layouts.

We had a week-end away at the Addo Elephant Park and will definitely go back again. It is a lovely camp site and so close to the hide where the elephants and other animals are so close... The children love the freedom to roam around the campsite, climb the trees and be able to see the animals from so close-up!
